Development of Novel Protein-Production Systems and Economic Opportunities & Regulatory Challenges for Canada: A discussion paper , by François Arcand and Paul Arnison
Download
The NPPS document offers a readable, realistic portrait of the emerging sector of novel protein-production systems. This reference document and discussion paper concerns the commercial-scale implementation of plant- and animal- factories.
The first part of the NPPS document describes the demand for novel protein-production systems and the state of the sector around the world (profile, perceptions, predicted life-cycle, readiness). The second part focuses on the actions to be taken in Canada, but is applicable to other countries as well. The document describes the regulatory regimes and how compliance is achieved, both for biomass production and product approval.
The 170-page document was published in April 2004 by François Arcand and Paul Arnison, both of whom where involved in the Conferences on Plant-Made Pharmaceuticals.
